August Artist Feature: Olivia Beaumont

Artist Feature

I'm so excited for this month's featured artist!! Meet @oliviabeaumontfineart! Her work is just as regal as her name sounds 😉. You have never encountered such an enchanting style as Olivia's. Her work makes your imagination wonder into a storybook narrative. In fact, she even wrote a book with her paintings!!
The rich velvety backgrounds combined with her use of the old master's oil technique make her characters pop and glow. The intricate details keep your eyes entertained with layers of depth to explore. Go check her out at oliviabeaumont.com, you will not be disappointed and may find your new favorite artist 💕
Where are you from and where did you go to school?
I am from Southern California. I went to California State University of Long Beach and got my BFA in drawing and painting.

Where do you find your inspiration?
My love for art started at a young age. I was an avid reader and I especially enjoyed children’s book illustrations. In later years I became an art history nerd. When you look at my paintings of richly dressed animal characters with Shakespearean themes and strong nods to famous artists, you’ll see how the two blend into a whole world of characters and narratives.
The two seemingly different art interests are married permanently in my brain.

What are your favorite mediums?
I love oil painting. I am passionate about sharing less toxic mediums with artists who enjoy oil paint, because the most widely used oil mediums are bad for our health. We have to really dig into research to find the alternatives.

I also enjoy watercolor, and have recently been getting into acrylic paint.

When you're not doing artsy things, what can you be found doing?
Gardening, reading, hanging out with my daughter, Netflix binging, and cooking.

Who are some artists that influence you?
I totally love the greats: Rembrandt van Rijn, Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Johannes Vermeer, William Waterhouse, and Hans Holbein.
Living artists who I follow avidly are Annie Stegg-Gerrard, and Kisung Koh.

What new project/ series are you most excited about and why?
The new mermaid series is something exciting for me! It gives me an opportunity to visit fantasy with new colors and themes to my work!
